Captain Gilbert Esquivel
As a South Texas native originally from Kingsville, Texas. Captain Gilbert Esquivel Jr. began fishing the waters of Baffin Bay at an early age after he developed an obsession for fishing alongside his dad. To this day, he is still expanding his knowledge of the bay system and learning new skills. With over 10 years of experience as a TPWD and USCG licensed fishing guide, he has pursued many different species of fish in the waters of the Lower Laguna Madre, including Speckled Trout, Redfish, Black Drum, and Flounder.
Capt. Gilbert is also a member of the Baffin Bay 30-inch Club. He enjoys wade fishing with clients in the flats of Baffin, as well as boat drifting with clients and their families. Most of all, Capt. Gilbert enjoys sharing his enthusiasm and joy of intercoastal fishing with new and seasoned anglers alike. He is always willing to teach guests how to improve their fishing skills. You can count on him to have an unforgettable fishing adventure.
For Capt. Gilbert, there’s nothing better than seeing an angler who is 7 or 50 years old alike landing fish and enjoying their time with the resources mother nature has provided for us. While most people enjoy catching fish, he believes being a guide is much more of a thrill. It takes persistence, dedication, and a whole lot of patience. From teaching a young angler how to cast a rod, to sharing the importance of conservation, or helping experienced anglers reach their dreams to catch a trophy size fish, he has found his passion and enjoys spreading his knowledge and experiences to others.
